CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Wukong
Character Canon: League of Legends
History: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Wukong/Background
AU History: Very early after the fall, a group of shifters abandoned civilization and moved into the wilderness, forgetting the world of humans. They gave rise to a clan of very bright pokemon completely cut off from humanity. Recently, one of their leaders beseeched the gods to empower their clan. Did it work? Possibly. Soon after, Wukong the Chimchar appeared in their village. He turned to be a natural at fighting, and pit himself against every challenger in the jungle, never giving up when he was defeated, learning from every mistake, and generally reaching ever higher, until eventually he had won the respect and admiration of all his clan. Seeking ever greater challenges, Wukong set out to investigate the legends of the distant forest of stone, a strange place said to be inhabited by a people who once ruled the world. Surely they would provide new challenges unmatched by anything else in the world.
Canon Personality: The key thing to remember with Wukong is that he is not a human; he's a monkey. He's a monkey who gained intelligence by overexposure to magical radiation in the plague jungles, but a monkey none the less. As such, he is very much an outsider to civilization looking in, and he thinks it's weird. Everything single thing that seems simple to him is built into huge, elaborate rituals to make them more complicated. Eating, sex, fighting, everything's gotta have rules rules rules! He preferred the simplicity of life in the jungle.
That said, he also admires civilization, because for all their weirdness humans are very much the dominant species on Runeterra. They have conquered much of the world and spread their cities to the far reaches of the globe. Perhaps not the jungles yet, but realistically speaking it's probably only a matter of time. He acknowledges our power, and seeks to understand it and make it his own.
His admiration for humanity's conquest is perfectly distilled in Master Yi. While Master Yi is not exactly a barrel of laughs or the life of a party, he is the greatest warrior Wukong has ever met. Someone for whom Wukong will suppress his natural instinct to be an annoying pest. Yi has ingrained at least a modicum of discipline in Wukong, who admires him and feels has truly earned the right to be called "Master".
On the flipside (again), while he admires what civilization has allowed humanity to do as a whole, he feels that it has made most individual humans weak. Coming from a world where every battle puts your life on the line, and where death stalks anyone who thinks they can relax for even a second, Wukong feels that most humans are painfully oblivious to the world around them, and that they wouldn't last ten seconds in his home.
Wukong's main drive is to become the best (like no one ever was!). He acknowledges that he has a LONG way to go, and probably won't make it any time soon, but he finds the struggle of climbing that tower a worthwhile and satisfying one. To match yourself against a new foe, and find out if you are stronger or he is. That is Wukong's greatest joy. He learns from his mistakes, innovates, thinks, and climbs ever higher and higher. Because of this, the League of Legends was a gift from on high to him. An arena that pits him again and again against the greatest warriors in the world is like heaven for Wukong!
He steals things without thinking much about it and likes climbing up into weird places. His favorite food is peaches, but he'll try anything once and isn't a picky eater. He is close friends with Ahri. It doesn't look like romance to most people, but they're both more animal than human so who can really tell? He sleeps at weird hours, doesn't like being indoors for too long, and isn't afraid to ask a million questions of someone who doesn't look like they want to answer questions.
AU Deviation: BNWukong is a bit younger and more unproven than his original universe counterpart. He found out about humanity earlier in his life, and left his home before he had definitively defeated every challenge within. As such, he's a smidge less cocky, but also less wise. Overall, perhaps a bit more child-like.
Canon Abilities: Wukong's has a few main powers. He has training in the Wuju Style, a potent martial art known by Master Yi, which makes him a formidable melee fighter. He can create clones of himself that vanish in a puff of smoke when struck, but otherwise can help him fight. Going strictly by gameplay, he can't make more than 3 copies at once, but going by the lore he can maintain dozens of them at the same time. He has a magical staff that he can change the length of, allowing him to strike from surprisingly far away. And finally he can summon a magic cloud that he can sit on while it flies around.
Enlightened Abilities: Fire Shifter. He is a Chimchar who can shift into a mostly human appearance. His "human" form still has fur and a tail, but is more or less human shaped and can talk without difficulty. He won't start out with his extendo-staff, but will hopefully get it ICly over the course of the game. Likewise he won't start with his duplication ability, but he has the inherent ability to master this power, and will be able to do so with training.
While that power is not as developed in this world, he has a Chimchar's fire powers. He can breathe fire or spit fireballs, surround himself in an aura of flame, and generally do other various kinds of fire tricks.
He does not have the flying cloud in this world.
Starter Pokémon: None
Notes/Special Considerations: Just confirming that it was okayed for Wukong to learn duplication without getting the substitue TM.
SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)
First-Person: http://testrun-box.dreamwidth.org/90743.html
-What would you say the role of Pokémon is in your life?
What's the role of humans in YOUR life?
-What do you seek for humanity’s future?
It'd be a shame if they got themselves killed before I learned what gave them so much strength, or what took it away from them. I'll leave their future to them, though, as long as they don't get wiped out.
-A human has attacked a wild Pokémon who retaliates in defense. How do you respond and whom do you defend?
Pfft. I'm not defending either of 'em! I'll wait until they're done, though, and see which looks stronger. Then I might do something.
-You are alone and bereft of your Pokémon allies, upon what strengths do you rely on to see yourself safely home?
Like I need allies to survive. I can live just fine anywhere and everywhere! I'll be fine.
-When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why?
Defeating it, obviously! How can I ever be the best if I don't take advantage of new challenages whenever I find them?
-What area do you seek to explore? The peaceful forest, in search of new, previously overlooked discoveries; the uncharted caves, in search of the unknown; or the wildest of mountain terrain, in search of danger, adventure, and thrills?
Not the forest. It sounds boring. The caves would probably be fun, though, as would the wild mountain heights!
